The Admiral Stamps of Canada

Stationery

Introduction

The only stationery bearing the likeness of King George V in the uniform of Admiral of the Fleet of the Royal Navy were post cards, post bands and wrappers. No envelopes bearing the Admiral design exist. The envelopes that were available during the Admiral Issue era, however, bore the likenesses as represented by these cut squares of the one-cent values. The 1916 design was embossed on white to cream wove paper. This was followed by a typographed design in 1922, commensurate with the changes in colours of stamps by agreement through the Universal Postal Union. A heavily embossed design was issued in 1923.
